“A Story of Ecology, Consciousness and Surreality” is the “celebratory” poster for the 2013 edition, a work by Salento artist Massimo Pasca portraying an unseen John Lennon landing in Salento equipped with a gas mask and welcomed by a local Saint. “Once upon a time there was a singer in a famous band. In his prime he had long hair and a beard”, the author points out. At one point in his career he said, “We are more popular than Jesus Christ. I don’t know who will die first. Rock and Roll or Christianity”. He died first, a testament to the fact that carrying shit alone takes little.

On Saturday, July 27th, Kings of Convenience finally arrived in Lecce for one of their four summer concerts in our country after an absence from Italian stages since 2010. On stage as a quintet: Erlend Øye (guitar and vocals) and Eirik Glambek Bøe (guitar and vocals), Davide Bertolini (bass), Ugo Santangelo (guitar) and Craig Farr (drums).

Opening the live show were Tobia Lamare & The Sellers with some songs from “Are You Ready for the Freaks?”, the Salento band’s second CD, produced by Lobello Records, distributed by Goodfellas and promoted with the support of Puglia Sounds, and next up were Roberto Angelini and Pier Cortese with their “Discoverland” project, born from free musical-amusing encounters between wandering singer-songwriters with the idea of rediscovering and reinterpreting important pages of Italian and foreign music, using them as raw material for new musical experiments.”

On Friday, August 16th, space was given to a lineup heralded as a “superband,” that of Daniele Silvestri, who re-proposed hits, “historical” songs and also unreleased ones for a unique and unrepeatable concert. It was Daniele Silvestri’s new summer tour “Live 2013” that landed in Lecce. In opening space Massimo Donno, who proposed (in guitar and vocal version) some songs from the debut album released for “Ululati,” the music section of Lupo Editore. A crowd bath for an unforgettable evening!

This edition of the festival was produced in collaboration with TT Events, Molly Arts and Alta Fedeltà Produzioni, under the patronage of the Municipality of Lecce as part of the Lecce Capitale Europea della Cultura 2019 project and with the support of Svicat. .[:en]#SEIfestival 2013 – July 27th and August 16th@ Lecce featuring Kings of Convenience, Daniele Silvestri, Roberto Angelini and Pier Cortese, Tobia Lamare & The Sellers.
